Huatulco is compact — nine bays and 36 beaches close together — but fares depend on where you start, where you're going and which kind of service you use. 🚗 Local taxi vs private transfer

Visitors usually run into three options:

1. Airport ramp taxis. Concession taxis operating inside the terminal. No booking needed, but there can be a line when several flights land together, and the fare is set at the counter at that moment. We compare both in taxis inside vs. outside Huatulco Airport.

2. Local "sitio" taxis in town. These wait at taxi stands in La Crucecita, Santa Cruz and the hotel zones. Great for short hops between bays, to the market or the beach. They're usually cash-only, and it's smart to agree on the fare before getting in. Spanish helps, but a destination name and a number on your phone work fine.

3. Pre-booked private transfer. That's what we offer from the airport: book ahead, pay a fixed rate, and your driver waits with a name sign 300 m from the terminal on the federal highway, in front of the OXXO / Pemex. (Federal airport rules don't allow outside transport inside the terminal.)

📍 How to book a taxi

1. Message us on WhatsApp with your date, flight number (for airport pickups), hotel or destination, number of passengers and bags.
2. Get your fixed quote. Mention surfboards, golf bags or kids so we prepare the right vehicle or child seat.
3. Confirm. We send your booking details and meeting-point directions.
4. On arrival day, walk about 3 minutes along the pedestrian path from the terminal to the federal highway (OXXO / Pemex). Your driver is holding a sign with your name.
5. Pay however you like: cash, card or bank transfer.

We also do hotel-to-airport rides, trips between bays, dinners out and coastal transfers. Book your return early in high season (December, Easter week and summer) and leave your hotel about 2 hours before domestic flights and 3 hours before international ones.

Getting around once you're settled. Huatulco's bays are spread along the coast, so short taxi rides are the easiest way to hop from La Crucecita's main square to Santa Cruz for a boat tour, or from Tangolunda to Chahué for a beach club afternoon.
